Brahmanandam Parama Sukhadam Kevalam Jnanamurtim
Dvandvathitam Gaganasadrisham Tatvamsyadi Lakshyam,

Bhavatitam Trigunarahitam Sad Gurum Tam Namami. 1
I Prostrate to that Sadguru, the Brahman, who is
bliss, who is the giver of supreme happiness, who is
absolute knowledge who is beyond the pairs of
opposites, who is vast like the ether, who is
attainable through assertions like “Tat Twam Asi”, who
is one, eternal, pure and changeless, who is the
witness of all the states of the mind, who transcends
modifications, who is devoid of the three modes (of Prakriti).
Yasyantarnadimadhyam Na Hi Karacharanam Namagotram Na Sutram
No Jatirnaiva Varnam Na Bhavati Purusho No Napumsam Na Cha Stri,
Nakaram No Vikaram Na Hi Janimaranam Nasti Punyam Na Papam
No Tattvam Tatvamekam Sahajasamarasam Sad Gurum Tam Namami.2
I prostrate to that Sadguru, who has no beginning,
no middle, no end, no hands, no feet, no name, no
lineage, no class, no caste, no colour, who is neither
male nor female, who has no form, no change, no birth,
no virtue, no vice, no elements of creation, who is
the one Truth, who is the natural homogeneous Essence.
Gururbrahma Gururvishnur Gururdevo Mahesvarah,
Guruh Sakshat Parambrahma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.3
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who is himself
Brahma, Vishnu and God Maheshwara, and who is verily
the Supreme Absolute Itself.
Chaitanyam Shashvatam Shantam Vyomatitam Niranjanam,
Nadabindukalatitam Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.4
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who is pure
Conciousness, eternal, peaceful, beyond ether,
spotless and beyond sound, space and time.
Ajnana Timirandhasya Jnananjana Shalakaya,
Chakshurunmilitam Yena Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.5
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who has opened with
the collyrium stick of knowledge, the eyes of him who
was rendered blind by the darkness of ignorance.
Akhandamandalakaram Vyaptam Yena Characharam,
Tatpadam Darshitam Yena Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.6
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who pervades the
movable and the immovable universe as an unbroken
infinitude of form, and who has shown the state of
That (Brahman).
Sthavaram Jangamam Vyaptam Yat Kinchit Sacharacharam,
Tvampadam Darshitam Yena Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.7
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who pervades the
whole universe constituting of beings, sentient and
insentient, movable and immovable and by whom is shown
the truth of the word “That” (Brahman).
Chinmayam Vyapitam Sarvam Trailokyam Sacharacharam,
Asitvam Darshitam Yena Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.8
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who pervades as
conciousness of beings, movable and immovable in three
worlds and by whom is revealed the truth of the word
“Art” in the Mahaavaakya: “That thou Art”.
Yatsatyena Jagat Sarvam Yat Prakashena Bhanti Yat,
Yadanandena Nandanti Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.9
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, due to whose
existence the world exists, whose effulgence illumines
the world, and whose Bliss is the happiness of all beings.
Na Guroradhikam Tatvam Na Guroradhikam Tapah,
Na Guroradhikam Jnanam Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.10
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who is the eternally
true, austere and absolute knowledge personified.
Gurureko Jagat Sarvam Brahma Vishnu Shivatmakam,
Guroh Paratharam Nasti Tasmat Sampujayet Gurum.11
The Guru alone is the whole world including the
worlds of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Nothing exists
that is superior to the Guru. Hence the Guru is to be
worshipped.
Yasya Deve Parabhaktih Yatha Deve Tathagurau,
Tasyaite Kathita Hyarthah Prakashante Mahatmanah.12
He whose devotion to the Lord is supreme, and who
has as much devotion to the Guru as to the Lord, unto
him, that high souled one, the meaning of the sacred
texts stand revealed.
Mannathah Shrijagannathah Madguruh Srijagadguruh,
Mamatma Sarvabhutatma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.13
I prostrate to that Sri Guru, my Lord, who is the
Lord of the entire universe, who is my Guru and world
teacher, the Indweller in me as well as the universe.
Dhyanamulam Gurormurtih Pujamulam Guroh Padam,
Mantramulam Gurorvakyam Mokshamulam Guroh Kripa.14
The form of the Guru is the basis of meditation,
the feet of the Guru are the basis of worship, the
words of the Guru are the basis of Mantra, the Grace
of the Guru is the basis of liberation.
Om Namah Shivaya Gurave Satchidananda Murtaye,
Nishprapanchaya Shantaya Niralambaya Tejase.15
Om. Prostration to the Guru, who is Shiva (bliss
and auspiciousness), who is the embodiment of
Existence-Knowledge-Bliss, who is beyond
world-conciousness, who is peaceful, without any
support and self-effulgent.
Ajnanamulaharanam Janmakarmanivaranam,
Jnanavairagya Siddhyartham Guroh Padodakam Pibet.16
The sacred waters used for washing the feet of the
Guru should be drunk for the sake of destruction of
the root of ignorance, for removing birth and death
and the effects of Karma, and for the attainment of
knowledge and dispassion.
Nityam Suddham Nirabhasam Nirakaram Niranjanam,
Nityabodham Chidanandam Gurum Brahma Namamyaham.17
I prostrate to that Guru, who is the eternally
pure Brahman, free from reflection, formless,
taintless, eternally awake as pure conciousness and
bliss.
Nidhaye Sarva Vidyanaam Bhishaje Bhavaroginam,
Gurave Sarvalokanam Dakshinamurtaye Namah.18
I prostrate to that Sri Dakshinamurti, who is the
abode of all knowledge, who is the physician to those
afflicted with the disease of worldly existence, and
who is the Guru of all the worlds.
Om Namo Brahmadibhyo Brahmavidya Sampradaya-
Kartribhyo Vamsarishibhyo Mahadbhyo,
Namo Gurubhyah Sarvopaplavarahitah
Prajnanaghanah Pratyagartho Brahmaivahamasmi.19
Salutations to Brahman, to the holy sages that
have given us the Brahmavidya; Salutations to the
great Masters of Divine Knowledge and to all the
masters that have awakened the Divine Wisdom in us.
Om I am Brahman.
Om Naraayanam Padmabhavam Vasishtam
Saktim Cha Tatputra Parasaram Cha,
Vyasam Sukam Gaudapadam Mahantam
Govindayogindra Mathasya Shishyam.20
Salutations to Brahma, Vasishtha, Shakti,
Parasara, Vyasa, Suka, Gaudapada the majestic,
Govindapada, the mighty Yogin whose disciple was the
effulgent Shankara.
Sri Sankarachaaryamathasya
Padmapadam Cha Hastamalakamcha Shishyam,
Tam Trotakam Vartikakaramanyan
Asmadgurun Santatamanatosmi.21
And his great disciples Padmapaada, Trotaka,
Hastaamalaka, and Suresvara who wrote a wide
commentary of Shankara’s Advaita.
Srutismritipurananam Alayam Karunalayam,
Namami Bhagavadpadam Shankaram Lokasankaram.22
Salutations to Master Shankara, Bhagavadpaada, the
bestower of felicity and unity on humanity, and the
repository of all the wisdom, contained in the sacred
scriptures. He is the manifestation of compassion.
Sankaram Sankaracharyam Kesavam Baadarayanam,
Sutrabhashya Kritau Vande Bhagavantau Punah Punah.23
Salutation to Shankara who has explained the
mystic lore handed down to us by Baadaraayana (Vyasa).
Let us adore Him again and again – Aum Bhagavaan
Shankara.
Isvaro Gururatmeti Murtibhedhavibhagine,
Vyomavad Vyapta Dehaya Dakshinamurthaye Namah.24
I prostrate to Sri Dakshinamurti who manifests in
three different forms as God, Guru and Self, and whose
body is all-pervading like the sky.
"sadasiva samarambham sankaracarya madhyamam
asmad acarya paryantam vande guru paramparam"
ഗുരുർ ബ്രഹ്മാ ഗുരുർ വിഷ്ണു
ഗൂരുർ ദേവോ മഹേശ്വരാ
ഗൂരുർ സാക്ഷാത് പരബ്രഹ്മാ
തസ്മൈ ശ്രീ ഗുരവേ നമഹ
തസ്മൈ ശ്രീ ഗുരവേ നമഹ
"gururbrahma gururvishnuH
gurudevo maheswaraH
guru sakshat parabrahma

गुरु ब्रम्हा गुरु विष्णू
गुरुः देवो महेश्वरा
गुरु शाक्षात परब्रम्हा
तस्मै श्री गुरुवे नमः
Twameva mata cha pita twameva,
Twameva bandhu cha sakha twameva,
Twameva vidya dravinam twameva,
Twameva sarvam mama deva deva.
anantasaṃsāra samudratāra
अनन्तसंसार समुद्रतार नौकायिताभ्यां गुरुभक्तिदाभ्याम् ।
वैराग्यसाम्राज्यदपूजनाभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 1 ॥
anantasaṃsāra samudratāra naukāyitābhyāṃ gurubhaktidābhyām ।
vairāgyasāmrājyadapūjanābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 1 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which is a boat, which helps me,cross the endless ocean of life,
Which endows me, with the sense of devotion to my Guru,
And by worship of which, I attain the dominion of renunciation.
कवित्ववाराशिनिशाकराभ्यां दौर्भाग्यदावां बुदमालिकाभ्याम् ।
दूरिकृतानम्र विपत्ततिभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 2 ॥
kavitvavārāśiniśākarābhyāṃ daurbhāgyadāvāṃ budamālikābhyām ।
dūrikṛtānamra vipattatibhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 2 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which is the ocean of knowledge, resembling the full moon,
Which is the water, which puts out the fire of misfortunes,
And which removes distresses of those who prostrate before it.
नता ययोः श्रीपतितां समीयुः कदाचिदप्याशु दरिद्रवर्याः ।
मूकाश्र्च वाचस्पतितां हि ताभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 3 ॥
natā yayoḥ śrīpatitāṃ samīyuḥ kadācidapyāśu daridravaryāḥ ।
mūkāśrca vācaspatitāṃ hi tābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 3 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which make those who prostrate before it,
Possessors of great wealth, even if they are very poor,
And which makes even dumb people in to great orators.
नालीकनीकाश पदाहृताभ्यां नानाविमोहादि निवारिकाभ्याम् ।
नमज्जनाभीष्टततिप्रदाभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 4 ॥
nālīkanīkāśa padāhṛtābhyāṃ nānāvimohādi nivārikābhyām ।
namajjanābhīṣṭatatipradābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 4 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which attracts us, to lotus like feet of our Guru,
Which cures us, of the unwanted desires,
And which helps fulfill the desires of those who salute.
नृपालि मौलिव्रजरत्नकान्ति सरिद्विराजत् झषकन्यकाभ्याम् ।
नृपत्वदाभ्यां नतलोकपङ्कते: नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 5 ॥
nṛpāli maulivrajaratnakānti saridvirājat jhaṣakanyakābhyām ।
nṛpatvadābhyāṃ natalokapaṅkate: namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 5 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which shine like gems on the crown of a king,
Which shine like a maid in the crocodile infested stream,
And which make the devotees attain the status of a king.
पापान्धकारार्क परम्पराभ्यां तापत्रयाहीन्द्र खगेश्र्वराभ्याम् ।
जाड्याब्धि संशोषण वाडवाभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 6 ॥
pāpāndhakārārka paramparābhyāṃ tāpatrayāhīndra khageśrvarābhyām ।
jāḍyābdhi saṃśoṣaṇa vāḍavābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 6 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which is like a series of Suns, driving away the dark sins,
Which is like the king of eagles, driving away the cobra of miseries,
And which is like a terrific fire drying away the ocean of ignorance.
शमादिषट्क प्रदवैभवाभ्यां समाधिदान व्रतदीक्षिताभ्याम् ।
रमाधवान्ध्रिस्थिरभक्तिदाभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 7 ॥
śamādiṣaṭka pradavaibhavābhyāṃ samādhidāna vratadīkṣitābhyām ।
ramādhavāndhristhirabhaktidābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 7 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which endows us, with the glorious six qualities like sham,
Which gives the students ,the ability to go in to eternal trance,
And which helps to get perennial devotion to the feet of Vishnu.
स्वार्चापराणाम् अखिलेष्टदाभ्यां स्वाहासहायाक्षधुरन्धराभ्याम् ।
स्वान्ताच्छभावप्रदपूजनाभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 8 ॥
svārcāparāṇām akhileṣṭadābhyāṃ svāhāsahāyākṣadhurandharābhyām ।
svāntācchabhāvapradapūjanābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 8 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru
Which bestows all desires of the serving disciples,
Who are ever involved in carrying the burden of service
And which helps the aspirants to the state of realization.
कामादिसर्प व्रजगारुडाभ्यां विवेकवैराग्य निधिप्रदाभ्याम् ।
बोधप्रदाभ्यां दृतमोक्षदाभ्यां नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥ 9 ॥
kāmādisarpa vrajagāruḍābhyāṃ vivekavairāgya nidhipradābhyām ।
bodhapradābhyāṃ dṛtamokṣadābhyāṃ namo namaḥ śrīgurupādukābhyām ॥ 9 ॥
Salutations to the sandals of my Guru
Which is the Garuda, which drives away the serpent of passion,
Which provides one, with the treasure of wisdom and renunciation,
Which blesses one, with enlightened knowledge,
And blesses the aspirant with speedy salvation.
Ishvaro Guru Atmeti
ईश्वरो गुरुरात्मेति मूर्तिभेदविभागिने |
व्योमवद् व्याप्तदेहाय दक्षिणामूर्तये नमः ‖
īśvaro gururātmeti mūrtibheda vibhāgine |
vyomavad vyāptadehāya dakṣiṇāmūrtaye namaḥ ‖
There is no difference between the Guru, Self and God. Obeisance to Lord Dakshinamurthy who is the personification of the Supreme Self that permeates through Space
sadāśiva-samārambhāṃ śaṅkarācārya-madhyamām.
सदाशिव-समारम्भां शङ्कराचार्य-मध्यमाम्।
अस्मदाचार्य-पर्यन्तां वन्दे गुरु-परम्पराम्॥१॥
sadāśiva-samārambhāṃ śaṅkarācārya-madhyamām.
asmadācārya-paryantāṃ vande guru-paramparām..1..
Salutation to the lineage starting with lord Sadasiva, with Adi Sankara in the middle and continuing up to my immediate teacher.
नमोऽस्तु ते व्यास विशालबुद्धे फुल्लारविन्दायतपत्रनेत्र।
येन त्वया भारततैलपूर्णः प्रज्चालितो ज्ञानमयः प्रदीपः ॥२॥
namo’stu te vyāsa viśālabuddhe phullāravindāyatapatranetra.
yena tvayā bhāratatailapūrṇaḥ prajcālito jñānamayaḥ pradīpaḥ ..2..
Obeisance to thee, O Vyasa, of might intellect, with eyes large as a petal of a fully blossomed Lotus, and it was by thee the lamp of wisdom was lit filled with the oil that is Mahabharata
श्रुति-स्मृति-पुराणानाम् आलयं करुणालयम्।
नमामि भगवत्पाद- शङ्करं लोकशङ्करम्॥३॥
śruti-smṛti-purāṇānām ālayaṃ karuṇālayam.
namāmi bhagavatpāda- śaṅkaraṃ lokaśaṅkaram..3..
I salute the divine feet of the great Sankara, the repository of sacred scriptures, an abode of immense compassion, who ever accomplishes the good of the world
शङ्करं शङ्कराचार्य केशवं बादरायणम्।
सूत्र-भाष्य-कृती वन्दे भगवन्तौ पुनः पुनः॥४॥
śaṅkaraṃ śaṅkarācārya keśavaṃ bādarāyaṇam.
sūtra-bhāṣya-kṛtī vande bhagavantau punaḥ punaḥ..4..
Salutations to Sankara who has explained the mystic lore handed down to us by Baadaraayana (Vyasa). Let us adore Him again and again.
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः।
गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः॥५॥
gururbrahmā gururviṣṇuḥ gururdevo maheśvaraḥ.
guruḥ sākṣāt paraṃ brahma tasmai śrīgurave namaḥ..5..
Guru is Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesha, in fact guru is Prabrahma himself, the Brahman, the Absolute. Salutations to such guru.
श्रीचिन्मय-यतीशस्य गुरुं वन्दे तपोवनम्।
तं हिमवद्-विभूतिं वै ज्ञान-वैराग्य-रूपिणम्॥६॥
śrīcinmaya-yatīśasya guruṃ vande tapovanam.
taṃ himavad-vibhūtiṃ vai jñāna-vairāgya-rūpiṇam..6..
समस्त-जन-कल्याणे निरतं करुणामयम् ।
नमामि चिन्मयं देवं सद्गुरुं ब्रह्मविद्वरम्॥७॥
samasta-jana-kalyāṇe nirataṃ karuṇāmayam .
namāmi cinmayaṃ devaṃ sadguruṃ brahmavidvaram..7..
I salute, Shri Chinmaya, the noble teacher, the best of the knowers of Brahman (the highest Reality), and who full of compassion, is ever engaged in the welfare of all people.
Guru Astakam
शरीरं सुरूपं तथा वा कलत्रं यशश्र्चारु चित्रं धनं मेरुतुल्यं |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ||1||
śarīraṃ surūpaṃ tathā vā kalatraṃ yaśaśrcāru citraṃ dhanaṃ merutulyaṃ |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ ||1||
(O Mother) a swapaka (a dog-eater or chandala) (from whose mouth nothing much comes out in terms of good speech) becomes jalpaka (talkative) with speech like a madhupaka (from whose mouth good speech comes out like honey) (by your grace), a ranka (poor and miserable) becomes niratanka (free from fear) forever, and moves about having obtained million gold (by your grace), O Aparna (another name of DevI Parvati), when your prayer (and glory) enter one’s ear (and sits in the heart), such is the result, (then) who among men can know, O Mother, the destiny which your holy japa can unfold?
कलत्रं धनं पुत्रपौत्रादि सर्वं गृहं बान्धवाः सर्वमेतद्धि जातम् |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ||2||
kalatraṃ dhanaṃ putrapautrādi sarvaṃ gṛhaṃ bāndhavāḥ sarvametaddhi jātam |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ ||2||
Wife, wealth, sons, grandsons and all such; home and kindred; all these things maybe there; yet if one’s mind be not centered upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
षडङ्गादिवेदो मुखे शास्त्रविद्या कवित्वादि गद्यं सुपद्यं करोति |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं || 3||
ṣaḍaṅgādivedo mukhe śāstravidyā kavitvādi gadyaṃ supadyaṃ karoti |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ || 3||
The Vedas with their six limbs and the knowledge of all sciences may be on one’s lips; one may possess the poetic gift and may compose fine prose and poetry; yet if one’s mind be not centred upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
विदेशेषु मान्यः स्वदेशेषु धन्यः सदाचारवृत्तेषु मत्तो न चान्यः |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ||4||
videśeṣu mānyaḥ svadeśeṣu dhanyaḥ sadācāravṛtteṣu matto na cānyaḥ |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ ||4||
“I am honoured in other lands and I am prosperous in my homeland; in the paths of righteous conduct there is none who surpasses me”, thus one may think; yet if one’s mind be not centred upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
क्षमामण्डले भूपभूपालवृन्दैः सदासेवितं यस्य पादारविन्दं |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ||5||
kṣamāmaṇḍale bhūpabhūpālavṛndaiḥ sadāsevitaṃ yasya pādāravindaṃ |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ ||5||
One may be constantly extolled and one’s presence highly honoured by hosts of emperors and rulers of this world; yet if one’s mind be not centred upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
यशो मे गतं दिक्षु दानप्रतापा जगद्वस्तु सर्वं करे यत्प्रसादात् |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं || 6||
yaśo me gataṃ dikṣu dānapratāpā jagadvastu sarvaṃ kare yatprasādāt |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ || 6||
“My repute has travelled in all directions through my philanthropy and prowess; all the things of this world are in my hands as rewards for my virtues”, yet if one’s mind be not centred upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
न भोगे न योगे न वा वाजिराजौ न कान्तामुखे नैव वित्तेषु चित्तं |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ||7||
na bhoge na yoge na vā vājirājau na kāntāmukhe naiva vitteṣu cittaṃ |

The mind may have turned away from external delights through dispassion and from attainments like Yoga and meditation, possessions like horses and the like, the enchanting face of the beloved, in short, the entire wealth of the earth; yet if one’s mind be not centred upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
अरण्ये न वा स्वस्य गेहे न कार्ये न देहे मनो वर्तते मे त्वनर्घ्ये |
गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मे मनश्र्चेन लग्नं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ||8||
araṇye na vā svasya gehe na kārye na dehe mano vartate me tvanarghye |
guroraṅghripadme manaśrcena lagnaṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ ||8||
The mind may have lost its charm to live in forests, and likewise in the house; may have lost all desire to achieve whatever; even the concern for the body’s welfare may have been outlived; yet if one’s mind be not centred upon the lotus feet of the Guru, what then, what then, what then?
